Parking for Family Weekend

Due to the football game on Friday, October 1, parking on campus will be limited to game day parking permit holders. Families wishing to obtain a game day permit may purchase them online directly from the UMD Department of Transportation Services for $17 each at https://transportation.umd.edu/parking/athletics-parking/football.

For families arriving on Friday, October 1
Families arriving for Family Weekend on Friday are encouraged to make arrangements with your student to pick-up your Family Weekend materials and tickets at the Family Weekend Welcome Center in the Stamp Student Union. The Welcome Center is open from 12:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. As noted above, parking on Friday is limited to football parking permit holders. Visitor parking will not be available.

NOTE (posted on 9/16/21): Game day permits are now sold out. Free parking locations are available off campus with shuttle service to campus. Updated information is available on the Department of Transportation Services website.  

ADA PARKING ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 1
Anyone with an ADA placard hangtag or plates can go directly to Stadium Drive Garage North entrance located right next to the stadium (road signs for ADA parking will help guide you).

For ADA handicap permit holders looking for close parking on football gamedays:

  • If a guest coming to the game have pre-purchased a gameday parking permit for ANY lot on campus they simply display both ADA and prepaid permit to the attendant at Stadium Drive garage (SDG) North.
  • If a guest does NOT have a prepaid parking permit they can go directly to Stadium Drive Garage (SDG) North and pay $17 credit card with the display of an ADA hangtag or plate.

For families arriving on Saturday, October 2
Families arriving for Family Weekend on Saturday should proceed directly to the Family Weekend Welcome Center in the Stamp Student Union. The Welcome Center is open 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Free, short-term parking is available in the Union Lane Garage. This parking is intended for check-in only, and we kindly request that you move your vehicle to the designated lots for Family Weekend immediately following your visit to the Welcome Center. This will ensure space is available for other families arriving for the weekend. You will receive a campus parking map at check-in. The map is also available here.

Parking on Saturday and Sunday
Families registered for Family Weekend will be provided with a campus map indicating the recommended parking areas and appropriate times for their use on Saturday, October 2 and Sunday, October 3.

Parking regulations will be enforced throughout the weekend, so please pay close attention to the information provided as well as to posted parking restrictions on campus.
