Health + Safety

We are pleased to offer an in-person Family Weekend, and we do so as we navigate the continued impact of COVID-19 and our ability to safely host large events. Masks are required for all indoor events and programs during Family Weekend on October 1 – 3, 2021. Attendees are required to wear a properly fitting mask over their nose and mouth. This is to safeguard your health and the health of all family members, especially our younger Terps and other vulnerable populations. Family Weekend attendees are permitted to remove their mask indoors only when eating or drinking.

This guidance may be updated as we continue to monitor the Delta variant in Prince George's County. Anyone attending Family Weekend agrees to follow the COVID regulations set forth by the Office of Parent and Family Affairs, the University of Maryland, and the local jurisdiction. Failure to comply with these guidelines will result in denial of entry or removal from the event. By attending Family Weekend and any event provided during the weekend, guests are assuming known risks posed by COVID-19; the University of Maryland is not responsible for any health issues that may result from participation.

We understand that some individuals may not feel comfortable with the guidelines we have in place—in which case we encourage you to visit campus on another weekend. Families are welcome to visit their student(s) at any time.
