
Traffic on the Capitol
Beltway (I-495) and U.S. 1 can be excessive on Fridays
between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. We encourage you
to allow plenty of time for travel to campus. We also
encourage the use of alternate routes down Paint Branch
Parkway to avoid traffic congestion.

BY CAR
From Baltimore and Points North via I-95
Take I-95 South to the Capital Beltway
(I-495)
Take Exit 27 and then follow signs to Exit 25B (U.S. 1
South, College Park)
Proceed approximately two miles south on U.S. Route 1
Turn RIGHT into main entrance of campus (Campus Drive)
and follow signs to Union Lane Garage/Stamp Student
Union.
Alternate route via 295 (Baltimore/Washington
Parkway)
Take 295 South to the Capital
Beltway (I-95/I-495)
Exit at I-95/I-495 North and stay in right lane
Take Exit 23 (MD 201/Kenilworth
Avenue/Bladensburg/Greenbelt)
Proceed South on 201 in the direction of "Greenbelt Road
and Bladensburg"
At 3rd light, turn right onto Paint Branch Parkway
Proceed approximately two miles to U.S. Route 1
Continue straight through traffic light to Campus Drive
and follow signs to Union Lane Garage/Stamp Student

From Virginia and Points South via MD side of Capitol

At second traffic light, turn left onto Adelphi Rd.
At third traffic light, turn left onto University

Turn right at next light onto Stadium Drive and refer to

and follow signs to Union Lane Garage/Stamp Student

From Annapolis and Points East via U.S.
50 West
Take U.S. 50 West to the Capital Beltway (I-495)
Go North on I-95/I-495 toward Baltimore
Take Exit 25 (U.S. 1 South toward College Park)
Proceed approximately two miles south on U.S. Route 1
Turn right into main entrance of campus (Campus Drive)
and follow signs to Union Lane Garage/Stamp Student
Union.
BY RAIL (Metro)
The
Metrorail system includes a College Park-University of
Maryland station stop on the Green Line. Disembark and
board the Shuttle-UM bus (College Park Metro route) at
Bus Stop C to the University. University identification
is not required to board. Riders will exit the bus at
the Stamp Student Union, and may transfer to other
Shuttle-UM buses to get around campus.
The College Park Metro route operates Monday through
Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:50 p.m. at 10-minute
intervals. Additional service is provided seven days a
week from 8:00 p.m. to 12:40 a.m. and on weekends from
12:00 p.m. to 7:40 p.m. at 20-minute intervals. On
Fridays and Saturdays, the College Park Metro Station
route operates from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m. at
20-minute intervals.

While BWI and DCA are the easiest airports to access
campus via car and Metrorail, the Metrorail system also
provides access to and from IAD. The directions listed
below provide instructions for travel to campus via
Metrorail. Complete Metrorail schedules are

Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall
International Airport (BWI)
Board
the BWI Airport/B30 Express bus to Greenbelt. Once at
the station, take the Metrorail Green Line (toward Branch
Ave) and exit at the College Park stop.
Disembark and board the Shuttle-UM bus (College Park
Metro route) at Bus Stop C. Riders will exit the bus at
the Stamp Student Union
(Lot HH).
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)
Take
the Metrorail Yellow Line (toward Mt. Vernon Square) to
the Mt. Vernon Square stop. Transfer to the Green Line
(toward Greenbelt) and exit at the College Park stop.
Board the Shuttle-UM bus (College Park Metro route) at
Bus Stop C. Riders will exit the bus at the Stamp
Student Union
(Lot HH).
Washington-Dulles International Airport (IAD)
Use
the Washington Flyer Coach shuttle for transportation to
the West Falls Church station.

Church, take the Orange Line (toward New Carrolton) to
L’Enfant Plaza. Transfer to the Green Line (toward
